1st time ever TOP 13 @ american Idol

This is a First. I’m beginning to think they made Tatiana go to the wild card round for the drama she contributes to the show and then turning her down for top 12. The latest last minute surprise was there will be an extra Finalist this year The 13th Wild Card – Anoop Desai!

He was the last to be added to the wild card round and He was also the last to be added to top 13 which traditionally is only a top 12.

4 judges, Wild Card round was brough back,more focus on behind the scenes drama, Sing offs, and now Top 13. These are the new stuff on Idol… Most probably, they still have more surprises up their sleeves….

The top 13 finalists are: Kris Allen, Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Scott MacIntyre, Jorge Nunez, Lil Rounds, Michael Sarver, And the wild card winners: Jasmine Murray, Megan Corkrey, Matt Giraud and lucky 13 Anoop Desai.

My favorites to make it to top 6 are : Scott,Danny,Alexis,Jorge,Anoop,and Lil. But my top 2 are Scott and Anoop.

Well, the mystery of the Wildcard Round is behind us as the judges named the contestants on American Idol tonight.  The wildcard picks are as follows:

Von Smith – YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I’m so happy!  I really like Von and I hope he well! 

Jazmine Murray – I’m a little surprised by this choice but, as the judges said, she’s got a lot of commercial appeal so I guess I can understand that.

Ricky Braddy – I’m happy he’s got a second chance.  He’s got a great voice and I’d like to see what he does next week.

Megan Joy Corkrey – Megan is really unique which is good because I feel like there is a good amount of talent this year but there’s a shortage of uniqueness (at least in the Top 12). 

Tatiana Del Toro – Giggles emerged from the audience as Tatiana immediately started crying and thanking the judges for putting her back in the competition.  She’s got a decent voice but I’m not sure I can take her hysterics.

Matt Giraud – I’m not surprised by this at all.  The judges seemed to like him,  viewers seemed to like him but he just didn’t get the votes.  We’ll see what happens.

Jesse Langseth – The judges liked her bluesy voice and added her to the list of people in the Wildcard round at the last minute (during the last commercial break, in fact).  Not sure how I feel about this one…

ANOOP DESAI – WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!  I’m so happy!!!  I love Anoop and I was crushed when he was eliminated after the Group 1 performances.  BRING IT ON, ANOOP!  I really want him in the finals!

What do you think?  Did the judges get it right?  The only one I really cared about was Anoop so I’m okay with the others.

I know this is not a tech post but sometimes I might put an interesting post not related to tech… I am a David archuleta fan and also wanted him to sing with Ramiele Malubay. I also wanted her to make it to the top. But now that Charice Pempengco, the biggest international singer from the Philippines, who sang duets with Andrea Bocelli and Celine dion is the one who might sign with David, I’m sure they will sound great together. Hopefully they will sing some great duets from Broadway and Disney like “A whole new World” from Aladdin, ” All I ask of you” from the Phantom, “ When you believe” from the Prince of Egypt, and “Forever Yours ” from Once on this island. I hope they might even launch a duet song or album in the future. Who knows? Just my two cents worth as well.
